More Canyon Time Please

Got a few days away last weekend. Tegan was originally going to join me but decided to stay home – too many fun things going on here this weekend. So alone I went – Thursday evening to Sunday. It was a good quick trip, and very very nice to get back into the desert. We’ve had so much on our plates with work, kids events, and all the other adventures that canyoneering has taken a big back seat.

Thursday night I drove to a particular spot in the Swell for a Friday run through Buckeyes. Tom showed up late that night and we met Bucky and two folks from Moab – Brett and Sumara – the next morning. The goal was to yank a couple of bolts that had been placed in this canyon that’s so easily done clean. Buckeyes is a great canyon to fiddle stick and sand trap. Unfortunately we weren’t able to extract the bolts. They were glued in so we’ll have to go back with more firepower.

Saturday and Sunday were spent in North Wash doing standard canyons – Two Hogs and a Hogwarts. It was Tom’s birthday weekend, which is traditionally a Tom Fest. There were a few regulars it was nice to see again. Most don’t remember me which is okay.

The nice part was meeting a new family – I don’t remember their last name but I’ve asked Tom Jones for their contact. The kids were great. I think they’d get along with T & T. They’re interested in Choprock when ever we go do it.
