Got my wrist back
Last June I broke my Apple Watch (series 3) while puttering around the house. That watch was one of my favorite pieces of tech and had been on my wrist for going on 3 years straight. I love the health tracking stuff, and the quick notification views. I really really like the Apple Watch.
But after it broke, I didn’t immediately think of getting a new one. It being half way through the year I thought I could easily make it through the the next couple of months until Apple released the next version. Well, those months were a bit longer than I anticipated….
I have a Garmin Instinct that I bought a few years back, purchased for it’s longer batter life for days on the river. And it’s also quite a bit more durable for activities like canyoneering. But while it does have activity tracking features, it’s generally cumbersome to use. The buttons are not intuitive and I can say after years of owning it I still can’t keep track of which button does what.
While the Garmin performed… fine for the last few months, I really only relied on it to keep the time. And that’s fine. But last week my Series 7 watch arrived and I can say it’s so very nice to have it back. And while I do at times have a bit of guilt over how much I like this watch – there are so many more pressing problems in the world that I could be dedicating my time, passion, or even these words to – It’s been such a joy to look at my wrist and see it there, with all it’s glorious color and complications.
Hello again, wrist!
