Approval Ratings

Is the whole world one giant approval rating? That everything we do is for the impressions and the views and nods. What we wear, what school, what career. Are there any choices at all that we make truly and purely for ourselves? Do I meditate so that others notice my awareness? Do I write these one little things to be viewed as wise? Did I choose Park City because it’s cool?

I think the answer is yes. Park City is cool. Being an astronaut would have been badass.

But it’s also not quite… Park City is a good place to live an outdoor lifestyle, and raise kids with opportunities. My choices affect others because we are all in this together, every human. Your joy is my joy, your sadness is mine too. The degree to which we choose based on what others think is the nuance here, and very much worth being aware of.
