20 Years

Kari and I celebrated 20 years of marriage this weekend, spending a few days bumming around southern Utah in a Teardrop trailer! She’s been somewhat excited to give one of these a try, and even though I’ve been very poot poot about it, I have to say it was quite a lot of fun. I might never want to sleep in a tent again 🙂

The main point of the weekend was to slow down and spend some quiet time together. But of course we couldn’t just sit around, so we brought bikes and hiking stuff, just in case we found someplace nice. It rained and sleeted on us the first night, but by heading further south we found a nice biking area outside of Cedar City: Three Peaks Trail System

The biking was good, it’s always fun to try new trails, and a lot of the southern Utah trails we’ve ridden have a fun mix of desert and slick rock. It gets a little technical in spots, which makes it really engaging to try and make it. This system has quite a few bridges as well:

In terms of celebrating 20 years, Kari decided to bring along our last bottle of Cabernet from Sunset Valley Vineyards. On our honeymoon in New Zealand we spent a couple months helping harvest grapes, and make wine with Ian and Ros and their kids. Twenty years was probably too long to wait to open it though:

All in all it was a really nice trip, and quality time spent with my best friend and love of my life. We struggle at times of course, but deep down we’re a great team.

Here’s to the next 20 my love.
